in5points
  1. Approximately 70 grams of diamond-studded gold jewellery worth nearly Rs 10 lakh disappeared overnight from Vishwas Jewellers on B H Road in Bengaluru.

  2. CCTV footage revealed a rat dragged the jewellery, including two gold chains and 10 diamond rings, between 4.30 am and 5 am.

  3. Staff traced the jewellery to a burrow inside a gap in the showroom furniture, recovering all ornaments along with a litter of rat pups.

  4. Showroom owner Vishwas believes the rat was after paper tags tied to the jewellery, as it had no leftovers to chew on that night.

  5. The gaps in the furniture have been sealed to prevent a repeat incident.
