Muslim man stabbed multiple times in Utah over his religion, police say

Peter Michael Larsen, 48, was arrested in Utah for stabbing a Muslim man multiple times inside Valley Fair Mall in West Valley City.

Larsen stated he targeted the victim because of his Muslim religion and told police he intends to kill Muslims.

The victim, a male Muslim kiosk worker, suffered multiple stab wounds and was hospitalized in critical condition.

Larsen was subdued by bystanders before police arrived and was booked for attempted murder and prohibited dangerous weapon conduct.

Imam Shuaib Din of the Utah Islamic Center said the suspect asked the victim about his religion and for a bottle of water before attacking.
