A 75-year-old homeless patient named Prabhuram died by suicide in a toilet at Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation-run Kasturba Hospital on July 31, 2026.

He was admitted on July 24 with fever after being brought by Zuber Ansari; investigations and vital parameters were normal.

Nursing staff found him hanged after another patient alerted them; he was taken to ICU but could not be revived.

The hospital's preliminary inquiry found no negligence and noted his mental condition appeared stable; police sent the body to Nair Hospital for post-mortem.
