{IKGPTU recruitment, affiliation} VB seeks response from Punjab technical edu dept

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has sought a response from the Punjab technical education department principal secretary regarding recruitment irregularities and illegal private college affiliations at IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU).
The complaint, filed by municipal councillor Amardeep Gujral, alleges systemic violations in hiring technical assistants, including conducting interviews with 40 marks despite a Punjab government policy banning interviews for Group B, C, and D posts.
The university is accused of using ordinary MCQ sheets instead of OMR sheets for manual evaluation, barring candidates from retaining question papers, and reusing a single set of question papers.
Separately, IKGPTU is alleged to have illegally granted affiliations to private colleges for allied and healthcare courses during 2025.
The VB has not launched an independent probe yet; it has asked the department to review evidence and recommend whether a full-scale vigilance inquiry should be conducted.
