Woman, two sons die of suspected asphyxiation in water tank in Haldwani: Police

A 65-year-old woman and her two sons died of suspected asphyxiation in an underground water tank in Haldwani's Gaulapar area.

Dharmendra Bisht entered the tank to dismantle shuttering; his brother Khushal Singh and mother Sarswati Devi entered in failed rescue attempts.

A fourth man, Bhoj Ram, entered to rescue them and lost consciousness but survived after villagers broke open the tank and pulled all four out.

The three were declared dead on arrival at Sushila Tiwari Hospital; exact cause of death pending postmortem.
