Ex-MLA Ravindra Dhangekar, wife Pratibha get anticipatory bail in Pune contractor suicide case; no relief for Shedge

A Pune sessions court granted anticipatory bail to ex-MLA Ravindra Dhangekar and his wife Pratibha Dhangekar in a case of alleged abetment of suicide of a contractor.

The court rejected a similar plea by former corporator Bala Shedge.

The court found no direct nexus between Ravindra Dhangekar and the deceased's business transactions; his name surfaced because Pratibha was a partner in Utkarsha Associates, a firm the contractor claimed was owed ₹20 lakh.

The FIR, registered under Sections 108, 316(2), 351(2), 352, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, alleged that the contractor's suicide followed financial losses and harassment by business associates.
