Maoist carrying ₹25L bounty arrested in Giridih

Police arrested CPI (Maoist) special area committee member and zonal commander Ajay Mahato, who carried a ₹25 lakh bounty, in Harladih area of Giridih district.

Mahato was a close associate of senior Maoist leader Misir Besra and served as zonal commander in the Parasnath region.

He was wanted in over 100 criminal cases including murder, extortion, attacks on police, IED blasts, and arson of road construction machinery.

Two other Maoist cadres were also arrested; a large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered.

Giridih SP Bimal Kumar said the arrest is a major blow to the Maoist organization and operations will continue to dismantle the extremist network.
