CCEA approves railway line expansion project in Karnataka, Andhra
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the third and fourth lines of the Ballari-Guntakal section in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh at a cost of ₹1,264 crore.
The 46-km multi-tracking project spans three districts across the two states to ease congestion and boost operational efficiency.
The capacity enhancement will improve rail connectivity to tourist destinations including Ballari Fort and Sri Kumara Swamy Temple.
The project is expected to generate additional freight traffic of 16.22 million tonnes per annum for commodities like iron ore, dolomite, limestone, coal, and food grains.
The project is planned under the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan to enhance multi-modal connectivity and logistic efficiency.
