Patrick Mahomes takes field at Kansas City Chiefs training camp after knee injury recovery

Patrick Mahomes took the practice field at Missouri Western State University for Kansas City Chiefs training camp on Saturday after recovering from a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee suffered in December 2025.

Mahomes received medical clearance on Wednesday from Chiefs staff and Dr. Dan Cooper, the Dallas Cowboys team physician who performed the knee surgery.

Mahomes said, 'I feel stronger than I've ever felt' and will wear a compression sleeve and brace on the injured leg during camp.

Coach Andy Reid does not plan to limit Mahomes' workload; he will run with the first-team offense alongside running back Kenneth Walker III, tight end Travis Kelce, and wide receivers Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, and Tyquan Thornton.

Mahomes aims to start the season opener against the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football at home.
