Punjab and Haryana high court dismissed a PIL seeking directions to allow screening of the film 'Satluj' on an OTT platform.
The bench of acting chief justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra and justice Rohit Kapoor questioned the petitioner's locus and ordered the PIL dismissed as withdrawn.
The film 'Satluj', originally titled 'Ghallughara' and later 'Panjab '95', depicts human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra's crusade against illegal cremations by Punjab Police.
The film had been released uncut on ZEE5 on July 3, 2026, but was taken down on July 5 after government objection.
Director Honey Trehan and producer Ronnie Screwvala made the film; CBFC previously demanded 127 cuts before filmmakers sought legal recourse.
