Ahmedabad firecracker unit blast death toll rises to 10; three accused arrested

Death toll in Ahmedabad firecracker unit blast at New Fire Works on Ramol-Gatrad Road rose to 10 after Govind Damor succumbed to 95% burn injuries.

Three accused arrested: Mehul Dodiya, Ramilaben Dodiya (owner), and Sadiq Saiyed; Mehul and Sadiq remanded to seven days police custody.

Blast occurred at around 3:30pm on Saturday while handling explosive materials; unit allegedly operating despite cancelled licence.

Gujarat government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident and regulatory violations.

Incident follows April 2025 Deesa blast killing 21; another SIT and pending PIL in Gujarat high court seek stricter regulation.
