HC allows Bangalore Development Authority to invite applications for Karanth layout but bars site allotments
Karnataka high court allowed Bangalore Development Authority to invite applications for Dr K Shivaram Karanth Layout but barred site allotments without court permission.
The court modified a January 2024 status quo order after BDA argued that not inviting applications was causing a mounting interest burden on loans.
BDA has spent about Rs 3,370 crore of the estimated Rs 5,337 crore project cost and expects to incur another Rs 1,966 crore.
BDA took loans to clear contractors' bills and is under pressure to service borrowings while funding other projects like Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout and Bengaluru Business Corridor.
