in5points
A school teacher from Vikhroli attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills after being on Special Intensive Revision (SIR) duty in Ghatkopar.
The teacher told Vikhroli police she was exhausted from answering phone calls throughout the day and stressed by a social media post criticizing teachers for non-teaching work.
She consumed seven sleeping tablets at school, then discussed the matter with the principal, students, and parents before losing consciousness.
Shikshak Sena's Jalindar Sarode called the incident unfortunate and urged reducing teachers' workload, especially women teachers.
Shikshak Bharati's Subhash More said the teacher had requested relief from BLO and SIR duty but no action was taken.
