Former nurse Mary Schwarz performed CPR and airway clearing on 8-month-old Nova at a Greenlee County post office in Clifton, Arizona, on July 11.
Clifton Police Lt. Shari Aguilar transported Nova to a nearby clinic; Nova began breathing again during the ride.
Nova, who had prior heart issues, was later transferred to Banner University Medical Center in Tucson for treatment.
Nova's mother, Kylie Vega, praised Schwarz for saving her daughter's life.
