Won’t forget Indian military’s rescue of 12 Chinese crew members after ship fire: China's defence attache
China's Defence Attache to India, Rear Admiral You Jian, thanked the Indian military for rescuing 12 Chinese crew members from a cargo ship that caught fire off the coast of Kerala in June 2023.
The Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard jointly carried out the rescue operation after the ship caught fire and exploded.
You Jian stated Beijing 'will not forget' the operation and highlighted the need for closer communication and cooperation between the armed forces of India and China.
He noted that both countries' armed forces have made outstanding contributions to UN peacekeeping operations and that common interests outweigh differences.
The remarks are aimed at improving relations between India and China after the 2020 LAC faceoff, with both sides engaging in constructive discussions towards normalization.
