Monsoon revives in Rajasthan; rainfall lash eastern part of state

Monsoon revived over Rajasthan after a nearly two-week gap, bringing heavy to very heavy rainfall in eastern districts.

Sikar recorded the highest rainfall of 10 cm in 24 hours ending July 21, followed by Nawalgarh, Shahabad, Jhunjhunu, Bari, and Baseri.

A cyclonic circulation over northeast Rajasthan and the monsoon trough are expected to keep monsoon active for four to five days.

Heavy overnight rain caused waterlogging in Sikar, flooding residential areas and affecting rail services, with Sikar-Rewari and Rewari-Jodhpur trains cancelled.

Rajasthan had received 20.25% below-normal rainfall as of July 20, with 24 districts in deficit, 15 normal, and Bikaner and Churu in excess.
