DU council urges VC to take action against sexual harassment case

Delhi University's academic and executive council urged vice-chancellor Yogesh Singh to comply with a Delhi High Court directive in a sexual harassment case at a college.

The council alleged the university failed to act for six weeks despite the court's order.

Two women professors approached the Delhi High Court, alleging the college's Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) failed to properly investigate complaints of sexual harassment, inappropriate remarks, and threats by male faculty members.

A formal ICC complaint dated July 17 cited derogatory, gender provocative, slanderous comments, sexualized comments, and physical threats.

The council letter expressed concern that the professors continue to face a hostile work environment, causing mental anguish and debilitation.
