Panchkula plans to add 40 new electric buses to its fleet, joining 10 already functional e-buses.
A dedicated electric bus depot is under construction on a 3.5-acre site in Sector 5, with an estimated cost of ₹13 crore.
The existing 10 e-buses connect Panchkula to PGI in Chandigarh, Kalka, Barwala, Chandigarh railway station, Ambala, and Singhpura (Zirakpur).
The new buses will feature air-conditioning, CCTV cameras, panic buttons, and digital route display screens.
The depot, being built by Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) Limited, will have 10 charging stations once completed.
