Exiled Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen returns to Kolkata after 19 years
Taslima Nasreen returned to Kolkata on July 31 after 19 years, her first public visit since 2007.
She was forced to leave in 2007 due to protests over her memoir "Dwikhandito".
Her memoir was banned by the West Bengal government in 2003 for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
Nasreen is scheduled to attend a public program on August 1, expected to be attended by West Bengal chief minister Suvendu Adhikari and author Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay.
She described the return as an emotional homecoming, feeling like returning to her own country.
