Mumbai: BMC Clears 3,841 Hazardous Trees And Branches After 3 Fatal Monsoon Incidents

BMC cleared 3,841 hazardous trees and branches between June 22 and July 17, 2026, after three fatal monsoon incidents.
A total of 902 trees were uprooted and 1,251 branches collapsed across Mumbai in the same period.
Three deaths occurred: Vihaan Shrivastava (11) in Chembur, Hasan Raza Jahangir Alam Syed (18) in Aarey Colony, and Yunus Kundawala (63) in Kurla West.
Clearance work is ongoing at 542 locations, with round-the-clock operations by BMC Gardens Department.
Citizens are advised to avoid standing under trees during heavy rain and to report hazards via BMC helpline 1916.
