in5points
India's weightlifting quota for CWG 2026 was reduced from 12 to 11 due to Dilbagh Singh's withdrawal for multiple Anti-Doping Rule Violations.
The Indian Weightlifting Federation was informed of the quota reduction only on 22 July 2026, one day earlier.
Dilbagh Singh was withdrawn due to a back injury and lack of training at the Birmingham preparatory camp.
Other Indian lifters previously banned for doping before CWG 2026 include N Ajith (71kg), Sairaj Pardeshi (88kg), Harcharan Singh (110kg), and Vanshita Verma (86kg).
Mirabai Chanu, Olympic silver-medallist, will lead India's weightlifting team at CWG 2026.
