Nearly 31% posts of govt school teachers vacant in UP

Over 31% of sanctioned teaching posts in Uttar Pradesh government schools are vacant, totaling more than 81,000 vacancies.

At the elementary level, 77,400 out of 2,50,488 sanctioned posts are vacant.

At the secondary level, 4,421 out of 11,083 sanctioned posts are vacant.

The Union education ministry has advised Uttar Pradesh to expedite recruitment to ensure adequate staffing under the Samagra Shiksha scheme.

Single-teacher upper primary schools increased from 3,109 in 2023-24 to 3,288 in 2024-25, while adverse pupil-teacher ratio in such schools rose from 22% to 29%.
