Sports is the central pillar of India's development agenda

India aims to rank among the top 10 sporting nations by 2036 and top five by 2047 under the Khelo India mission.

The Union Budget increased sports spending by 18% to Rs 4,479.88 crore for FY 2026-27, one of the sharpest year-on-year jumps.

Deloitte-Google's “Think Sports” report projects India's sports market at $130 billion by 2030, growing at 14% CAGR.

The report also forecasts 10.5 million jobs and US$21 billion in indirect tax revenue from the sports sector by 2030.

Khelo India receives Rs 924.35 crore for training centres, coaching, sports science, and grassroots competitions.
