ZTE among Chinese firms licensed to purchase Nvidia's H200 chips, documents show

ZTE Kangxun Telecom, Maginfra, and Zhuhai Hengqin Yunxiang Zhisheng Network Technology received US approval to purchase Nvidia's H200 chips or AMD alternatives.

Nvidia's H200 chip, used to train and run large AI models, is a focal point of US-China tech rivalry due to export restrictions.

The three firms expand the known set of Chinese companies licensed to buy the chips beyond major internet groups and distributors.

Some Chinese cloud firms have recently indicated they may soon obtain H200 chips, suggesting progress in Chinese import reviews.

The US has allowed sales of H200 chips to China since the Trump administration, despite tightened export controls since 2022.
