Gadkari says drivers can choose pure petrol over E20

Nitin Gadkari said motorists can opt for 100% petrol if they do not want ethanol-blended fuel, but will have to pay more.

E20 petrol (20% ethanol blend) is being rolled out nationwide, with some motorists reporting lower mileage and concerns about older engine wear.

The closest option to pure petrol is 100-octane fuels like Indian Oil's XP100, HPCL's Power100, and Bharat Petroleum's Speed100.

XP100 is manufactured at Indian Oil's Mathura refinery using the OCTAMAX process and has trace or zero ethanol content.

HPCL stated ethanol content in Power100 is up to 4.5%, targeting luxury vehicle owners who demand high performance.
