AC Local Train Door Malfunction Triggers Commuter Panic At Kalyan Station During Peak Hour

A technical malfunction in a Kalyan–CSMT AC local at Kalyan station caused automatic doors to open partially or remain shut at 8.54 am during Wednesday's peak hour.

Hundreds of commuters struggled to board or alight due to limited door operation, leading to panic and near-stampede conditions on Platform No. 1.

The train was already packed from Kopar and Dombivli, worsening crowding as passengers from Ambernath, Badlapur, and Titwala attempted to board.

RPF and Maharashtra Security Force personnel were deployed to regulate passenger movement and ensure doors could shut before departure.

The incident raised concerns about automatic door reliability in AC locals during peak hours, though no injuries were reported.
