Family of four among five killed after car rams into water tanker near Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore

Five people were killed after their car rammed into a stationary water tanker lorry on the Udumalaipettai-Pollachi National Highway near Coimbatore.

The accident occurred near Nallampalli junction when the car, heading towards Pollachi from Udumalai, hit the rear of the lorry that was halted to water roadside plants.

Four of the deceased were from a family from Gurubampalayam near Madukkarai: Kanagaraj, his wife Narmada, and daughters Aarthi and Poorani; the fifth victim is unidentified.

Police from Gomangalam police station sent the bodies to Pollachi Government Hospital for post-mortem and registered a case.
