Librarian donates entire salary and prize money to charity

Palam Kalyanasundaram, a librarian from Tamil Nadu, donated his entire salary for 35 years, totaling approximately ₹30 crore.

He gave away all his prize money of ₹30 crore, including the Ramakrishna Bajaj Memorial Award and the Jamnalal Bajaj Award.

Kalyanasundaram also donated his pension and property to charity, leaving nothing for himself.

His contributions funded the construction of over 1,000 houses for the poor and supported educational institutions.

He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2024 for his philanthropy and selfless service.
