Spokane Valley wildfire forces evacuations as blaze spreads

The Old Trails Fire in Spokane Valley, Washington, forced residents to evacuate as it jumped the Spokane River and spread into the city.

The fire, first reported Saturday afternoon, grew to approximately 2,500 acres by 4:30pm local time, according to WatchDuty.

Level 3 evacuations were issued for areas bordered by Strong Road to the north, Francis Avenue to the south, Five Mile Road to the west, and Cedar Road to the east.

Level 2 evacuations were in effect for areas bordered by Price Avenue to the north, Francis Avenue to the south, Cedar Road to the west, and Division Street to the east.

Residents shared videos and posts online describing panic, with one noting their apartment was in a level 2 evacuation zone and expecting level 3 soon.
