FDA Cracks Down On Palghar Collector Office Canteen, Suspends FSSAI Licence Over Expired Food & Hygiene Lapses

FDA suspended the FSSAI licence of the canteen in Palghar District Collector’s office after finding expired food items and hygiene violations.

The surprise inspection on July 24 was conducted by Palghar FDA under Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe.

Expired food items found in the stockroom could have been used in preparation or sold, posing a public health risk.

Kitchen hygiene was poor with deficiencies in food preparation, storage, and handling, violating the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

Legal proceedings initiated against the canteen operator under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
