FIDE Awards shortlists: Gukesh, Praggnanandhaa, Divya lead India's strong showing

D Gukesh, R Praggnanandhaa, and Divya Deshmukh lead India's nominations for the inaugural FIDE Excellence Awards.

The awards cover performances from September 2024 to August 2026 and will be presented at the Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Gukesh, Praggnanandhaa, and Arjun Erigaisi are shortlisted for Best Chess Player (Male) against Magnus Carlsen and others.

Divya Deshmukh, Koneru Humpy, and R Vaishali are among nominees for Best Chess Player (Female).

The All India Chess Federation, Indian national teams, and ChessBase India Foundation also received nominations.
