Youth dies after fire breaks out at hotel in Wakad

Mohamad Shahzad, 19, died in a fire at Delhi Six Biryani Hotel on Datta Mandir Road near Wakad Phata in Pimpri-Chinchwad.

The fire broke out around 8 pm when a gas cylinder was being connected while a cooking furnace was still in operation.

Shahzad suffered suffocation and minor burn injuries; he was taken to YCM Hospital but declared dead on arrival.

Mohammad Usman, 38, rented the hotel premises from property owner Jodhwani in January 2026 and handed it over to Farhan and Shahzad.

The gas agency delivery worker fled the spot after the fire; police are investigating the exact cause and possible negligence.
