Vina Mandavi's nomination for the Bankipur assembly byelection as Janshakti Janta Dal candidate was rejected by the Returning Officer.
The rejection was due to lack of required number of proposers' signatures (10 proposers).
Mandavi was arrested shortly after filing nomination and released on bail; she was wanted in a forgery case.
JJD chief Tej Pratap Yadav called the rejection a conspiracy and said the party will challenge it in court.
The Bankipur bypoll saw BJP initially field Abhishek Kumar Sinha, who withdrew, replaced by Neeraj Kumar Sinha.
