The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet unanimously approved the Uniform Civil Code Bill, 2026, on Sunday.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the bill ensures equal rights for all citizens, regardless of religion.
The bill will be introduced in the State Assembly during the Monsoon Session starting July 20.
A seven-member committee received 9.58 lakh suggestions, and 93.54% of respondents supported UCC implementation.
Yadav stated that 80% of Muslim women and 40% of Muslim men who participated favored a common civil code.
