Delhi Weather LATEST Update: Rainfall 37% Below Normal in 2026, August Holds Key to Monsoon Recovery

Delhi recorded 394.3 mm of rainfall between January 1 and August 3, 2026, 37% below the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

August rainfall is crucial for recovery, but Delhi has received only 1 mm so far, nearly 96% below normal, and weather officials expect below-average showers for the month.

The Decision Support System (DSS), used for implementing the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) to manage air pollution, has not been fully upgraded ahead of the pollution season in October.

Delhi's heat index has remained above 45°C for three consecutive days due to high humidity, with levels between 65% and 90% expected until at least August 9.

On Monday, the maximum temperature was 35.6°C, 1.2 degrees above normal, and the heat index reached 45.3°C in the afternoon.
