Centre clears three new ESIC hospitals in Punjab

Centre granted in-principle approval for three new ESIC hospitals in Punjab at Lalru, Rajpura and Malerkotla.

Move aims to strengthen healthcare services for over 53.75 lakh insured workers and dependants.

Punjab has 11.73 lakh ESI-covered workers, with total beneficiaries exceeding 53.75 lakh.

Minister Shobha Karandlaje shared information in Parliament, noting current services include ESIC Medical College and Hospital at Ludhiana and ESIC Hospital at Ram Darbar in Chandigarh.

Government also empanelled 139 private tertiary-care hospitals and nine government medical colleges for cashless treatment when ESI facilities unavailable.
