Indian-origin NASA astronaut Anil Menon, on board International Space Station, set to make first-ever spacewalk

Indian-origin NASA astronaut Anil Menon will undertake his first spacewalk starting August 6, 2026.

Menon will perform three spacewalks with astronaut Jessica Meir to upgrade solar arrays, replace a communications antenna, and install power and data cables.

The spacewalks will prepare the International Space Station for installation of the IROSA solar array to support station operations.

Menon traces his origins to Palakkad, Kerala, and arrived at the ISS aboard Soyuz MS-29 on July 14, 2026.
