2015 sacrilege, police firing cases: Sukhbir joins SIT probe in Chandigarh

Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal joined the Punjab Police SIT probe into the 2015 Behbal Kalan police firing and sacrilege cases in Chandigarh.

Badal alleged that the AAP and Congress were engaging in vendetta politics over the sacrilege issue.

The SIT, headed by Bathinda DIG Harjit Singh, summoned Badal after examining former BJP leader Vijay Sampla for three hours.

Sampla denied signing a January 2018 memorandum with Badal seeking a judicial probe, and questioned the documents' authenticity.

Former SAD MLA Mantar Singh Brar told the SIT he spoke with then CM Parkash Singh Badal, then home minister Sukhbir Badal, and then Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini before the police action.
