Restaurant Bodies Urge Maharashtra FDA To Issue Improvement Notices Before Suspending Licences, Oppose Name &

Hotel and Restaurant Association Western India (HRAWI), National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI), and Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association (AHAR) have appealed to the Maharashtra FDA to issue improvement notices under Section 32 of the FSS Act, 2006, before suspending licences.

The associations have requested the FDA to stop naming and shaming establishments in media or social media before legal proceedings are complete.

They argue that premature publicity causes irreparable reputational damage and bypasses principles of natural justice.

The associations emphasized that inspections under FSSAI are meant to be consultative and corrective first, and that initial findings may be rectified.

They reaffirmed their commitment to hygiene and safety standards and urged the FDA to balance public health protection with fairness in enforcement.
