Bharat Taxi launched in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad

Bharat Taxi, a government-backed app-based transport service, launched in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad to eliminate surge pricing.

Fares are fixed by the regional transport office (RTO) and range from ₹18 per km for auto-rickshaws to ₹32 per km for SUVs.

Around 35,000 drivers have registered, and the service promises vehicle availability within about four minutes of booking.

Intercity operations have begun with a Pune-Mumbai route, with plans to expand to Pune-Nashik, Pune-Solapur, and Pune-Kolhapur.
