Imported jacket damaged, dry cleaner to pay Mohali man ₹63,000

Mohali consumer commission directed Anugrahaprada Enterprises to pay ₹63,000 to Jagwinder Pal Singh for damaging his imported jacket during dry cleaning.

The dry cleaner acknowledged its mistake in writing on January 21, 2025, and agreed to refund 795 Canadian dollars but failed to pay despite a legal notice.

The commission ordered payment of ₹53,494 as value of jacket (calculated from 795 Canadian dollars) plus ₹10,000 compensation and litigation expenses, with 6% annual interest if unpaid within 30 days.

The jacket was purchased in Canada and handed over for dry cleaning on January 11, 2025; it was returned wet, stained, and damaged.
