Search on in Rajasthan for 400-year-old cannon stolen from Narwar Fort

A 400-year-old Scindia-era cannon stolen from Narwar Fort in Madhya Pradesh is being sought in a joint search by Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh Police.

Over 60 personnel, including a metal detector team from Bharatpur, are searching Gaonra Meena village in Karauli district, Rajasthan.

The cannon was stolen on July 15, 2026, by about 30 armed men who held security at gunpoint and used a loading vehicle to remove it from the fort.

Police suspect the cannon was buried in the Gaonra Meena area, prompting excavations with JCB machines at multiple sites.

The search operation, led by Sadar Hindon SHO Girraj Jatav, has drawn attention from locals as it continues for a second day.
