Liquor shops along Kanwar Yatra routes on lens

The excise department conducted surprise inspections at liquor shops and bars across Gautam Budh Nagar on Saturday.

The inspections were directed by Uttar Pradesh excise commissioner Adarsh Singh, with teams checking compliance with the Excise Act and departmental guidelines.

Officials ordered liquor shops along the Kanwar Yatra route to be screened with curtains and maintain real-time CCTV surveillance.

The drive included test purchases, and operators were instructed to display all available brands near the sales counter.

All transactions must be carried out through POS machines, and any deviation will be dealt with strictly under the Excise Act.
