Singapore court denies stay on Byju's jail term
in5points
The Singapore High Court denied Byju Raveendran's request to suspend his six-month civil contempt sentence.
The court lifted the temporary protection previously granted to the Byju's founder while his appeal is pending.
The July 9 hearing addressed only the stay application, not the substantive appeal against the contempt finding.
The substantive appeal is yet to be heard by the Singapore Court of Appeal.
The contempt sentence remains in force unless the appellate court grants interim relief.
