Mumbai MACT Awards ₹33.8 Lakh To Family Of Pune Man Killed In Truck-Motorcycle Collision

Mumbai MACT awarded ₹33.8 lakh to family of Khandu Gajanan Kokare, killed in October 2023 when a truck hit his motorcycle in Daund taluka.

The tribunal directed the truck owner and Liberty General Insurance Co. Ltd. to pay compensation with 7.5% annual interest from the claim filing date.

The deceased was a 43-year-old Pune resident engaged in sheep rearing and labour work, earning around ₹25,000 per month as sole breadwinner.

Insurer's objections of contributory negligence and non-joinder of parties were rejected as police records showed truck driver was responsible.

Compensation was calculated using notional monthly income of ₹20,000, applying multiplier method with future prospects.
