Ram Temple probe expands to Lucknow, assets of 54 kin of accused under scanner

Investigation into alleged embezzlement at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya has expanded to Lucknow.

Authorities are scrutinizing assets of 54 relatives of the eight accused, who are in Ayodhya jail since June 26, 2026.

Records are being sought from Lucknow Municipal Corporation, Lucknow Development Authority, UP Housing and Development Board, stamp and registration department, and revenue department.

Agencies are asked to provide details of properties purchased over the past two years to trace proceeds of crime.

The probe aims to determine if kin made sudden or disproportionate investments after alleged thefts from temple donation counting system.
