Social Security COLA 2027 estimated at 3.8%

Social Security COLA for 2027 is estimated at 3.8% by The Senior Citizens League.

The final COLA will be announced on October 14, 2026, based on CPI-W data from July to September 2026.

If the 3.8% estimate becomes official, the average retired worker's monthly benefit would rise from $2,026 to about $2,103, an increase of $77.

The 2027 COLA would be higher than the 2026 COLA of 2.8% but lower than pandemic-era increases.

Higher COLA may not provide relief as it often coincides with higher inflation, offsetting the benefit increase.
