Maharashtra To Formulate Comprehensive Seed Policy To Prevent Losses From Substandard & Counterfeit Seeds

Maharashtra government is formulating a comprehensive seed quality policy to prevent losses from substandard and counterfeit seeds.

Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharane announced the policy after a review meeting at Mantralaya.

The policy includes QR-based seed traceability, e-lab testing, and stricter inspection of seeds from other states.

It aims to strengthen accountability at all stages of seed production, storage, testing, and sale.

The government will consider stakeholder suggestions before finalizing the policy, prioritizing farmers' interests.
