Two injured as SoBo building staircase collapses

A staircase of the Lokhandwala building in Masjid Bunder, Mumbai collapsed on July 26, 2026.
Two residents, Bilal Sheikh and Jamshed Sheikh, sustained minor injuries and were discharged after treatment.
A portion of the sixth floor collapsed onto the fifth floor; six occupants were evacuated.
The cessed building was not listed among dangerous structures by the Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board (MBRRB).
Residents, mostly goldsmiths, were given time until evening to retrieve valuables before evacuation.
