Don’t dump waste on railway land: South Western Railway

South Western Railway (SWR) warned of strict action against dumping garbage and construction debris on railway land.

SWR launched a major drive with Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and five civic corporations to clear waste along Bengaluru tracks within two months.

Minister of state for railways V Somanna said legal action and penalties will be imposed on violators.

Garbage dumping along tracks is a safety concern; fires in waste heaps have damaged signalling and electrical cables.

Repeated debris dumping erodes the boundary between railway land and adjoining properties, leading to encroachment.
